So, I don't know how many of you have heard about braided headbands, but I made them for camp, they are super cute, and, surprisingly, super easy to make! It only took me about 20 minutes to make mine! All you need to make them is:
- 3 strips (about 24' long and 1' wide) each of two different fabrics.
- 2 hair elastics.
- A hot glue gun.
- 2-3 extra strips of fabric for flowers (Optional).
- A safety pin.
I then put the safety pin through them, and into my jeans (you could also use carpet, etc.) just to hold the fabric in place while I braided it.
I then braided the strips together pretty tightly (and don't worry if its uneven or has strings coming out, it makes it look cool) until i had about an inch left at the end.
Then I grabbed the hot glue gun, folded the end of the not braided fabric up about a inch onto the braided part, held the middle, unfolded it, glued one side of one of the hair elastics to the middle, glued that inch of braided part that I folded to earlier, then folded again, this time, gluing them together.
Repeat with the other end of the braided part, to the other end of the 1 hair elastic, then repeated with the other braid.
I then tied the two hair elastics together to form a knot (you can figure that one out on your own), and there is your braided headband!
For the flowers, and you have to do is tie a knot at the top of the strip of fabric, and wrap the fabric around it, twisting as you go, while holding on to the middle, and same thing with this, uneven looks kinda cool, but just mess around until you like what you see.
You then just glue the end to the side of the flower, and glue the whole flower to a piece of felt of folded fabric, cut to the shape of the flower after its glued.
You can then glue the flower to the headband, or a hair clip and clip it to the headband, whatever you like best!
There's your braided headband for you! (If you are really confused, just braid the fabric and you can glue and tie however you want, it's pretty easy, so i'm sure you could figure it out).
