Braided Headbands

So, I don't know how many of you have heard about braided headbands, but I made them for camp, they are super cute, and, surprisingly, super easy to make! It only took me about 20 minutes to make mine! All you need to make them is:

  • 3 strips (about 24' long and 1' wide) each of two different fabrics.
  • 2 hair elastics.
  • A hot glue gun.
  • 2-3 extra strips of fabric for flowers (Optional).
  • A safety pin.
What I did was I laid the strips of fabric on top of each other in 2 groups of three strips each with the same color on the top and bottom and a different color in the middle, then switched for the other group.
I then put the safety pin through them, and into my jeans (you could also use carpet, etc.) just to hold the fabric in place while I braided it.
I then braided the strips together pretty tightly (and don't worry if its uneven or has strings coming out, it makes it look cool) until i had about an inch left at the end.
Then I grabbed the hot glue gun, folded the end of the not braided fabric up about a inch onto the braided part, held the middle, unfolded it, glued one side of one of the hair elastics to the middle, glued that inch of braided part that I folded to earlier, then folded again, this time, gluing them together.
Repeat with the other end of the braided part, to the other end of the 1 hair elastic, then repeated with the other braid.
I then tied the two hair elastics together to form a knot (you can figure that one out on your own), and there is your braided headband!
For the flowers, and you have to do is tie a knot at the top of the strip of fabric, and wrap the fabric around it, twisting as you go, while holding on to the middle, and same thing with this, uneven looks kinda cool, but just mess around until you like what you see.
You then just glue the end to the side of the flower, and glue the whole flower to a piece of felt of folded fabric, cut to the shape of the flower after its glued.
You can then glue the flower to the headband, or a hair clip and clip it to the headband, whatever you like best!
There's your braided headband for you! (If you are really confused, just braid the fabric and you can glue and tie however you want, it's pretty easy, so i'm sure you could figure it out).

The Hunger Games Movie

These are some of the hot men in the movie - right is peeta (Josh Hutcherson), left - is gale (Liam Hemsworth)
So, don't know how many of you have seen the Hunger Games movie yet, but let it be said that it was the best movie I have ever seen! I loved it so much! And I went to the midnight showing, so the fact that I liked it even after only getting two hours of sleep and waiting in line for hours says something too. If you haven't seen it, I would advise you too. Especially since all the guys in the movie are EXTREMELY gorgeous, especially peeta (played by Josh Hutcherson) oh, he is such a babe! But, anyways, if you haven't read the book, you might not like the movie (might be a little to gruesome for ya) but, if you have, you'd understand and you would most likely agree with me that it is most certainly a movie worth watching.

Bring on 2012!!

I am so excited for 2012! I have been trying to think of some awesome resolution, but I can't really think of one... So far, I have just decided that i will try to be nice to everyone I meet, even if they aren't nice back, and that I want to try to either get personal progress completely done, or pretty close (even halfway is good).
